About Me

.

Hello! Thanks for considering me as your photographer! My name is Dominique Matos, I am an Aiken local who just so happened to stumble upon this charming city in 2015. I have an undeniable passion for horses and photography. Bringing my two passions together to create my business has been one of the coolest opportunities ever!

I own 5 horses, all of which have helped further my passion of photography as they were often the victims of experimental photoshoots. Buddy is 2000 Quarter Horse gelding. He was my first horse, and though an injury ended his riding career, he still serves his purpose as an equine assisted therapy horse. Maté was my 2nd horse. He was given to me at 23 as a retired polo pony. He taught me the basics of polo, he has since crossed the rainbow bridge. Remi is my 3rd horse. He is a 2008 grade Quarter Horse gelding who was my Craigslist project turned 1st level dressage horse. Oliver is my 4th horse, he’s a 2005 Thoroughbred gelding, who I enjoy foxhunting and dressage with. Ernie is my 2017 thoroughbred gelding. He is an absolute goober and no matter what we are doing his quirky personality will always shine through! We recently did a dressage show where he neighed the entire time! The most recent addition is Braveheart! He is currently 1 year old and is a nurse mare foal I decided to take in at just one month old! With no mama, he required bucket feeding every 2 hours! While it was exhausting at the time, I’ve got the most special baby horse!

Some of my hobbies outside of riding and photography include: Drawing, running, and the occasional attempt at golf. I really enjoy traveling and exploring the world. Music means a lot to me, and you’ll almost never find me without music playing. When I’m not out and about, I enjoy cozying up with my favorite Netflix series, Stranger Things.

Capturing the small, meaningful moments between horse and rider mean a lot to me. When my first horse, Buddy, initially went lame I had no horse to ride. Lots of people told me that there was no sense in keeping a horse that I couldn't ride. But everyday I still went out to the barn just to spend time with him. He meant so much to me, and I was confused as to why no one understood that. It’s my mission to capture that same passion that you share with your horse, through the art of photography.
